Please join us on Thursday, February 25 for lunch-and-learn and to hear a great presentation planned by a worldwide expert in geospatial intelligence, Dr. Shawana P. Johnson, GISP. 


The Government Geospatial Sector Faces the Impacts of IoT, Cloud, & Cyber Threats while Managing Massive Content, Conveyance Technologies and Context Space

Dr. Johnson will focus on the ways in which the government and commerce are facing the onslaught of commercial geospatial imagery, the Internet of Things, Cyber Threats and the Cloud in order to:

  • Address big data and face the real challenge, which is big data analytics with pixel intense problems.

With additional comments by Earl Dodd, President of Ideas and Machines, who will discuss ways in which to:
  • Tightly couple HPC systems, networks and clusters while still maintaining data accuracy and standards. 

Dr. Johnson is a globally recognized geospatial intelligence expert supporting the US government and the global geospatially focused security and intelligence industries with market research on technology platforms and capabilities which support airborne and spaceborne geospatial tools utilized specifically in Energy, Agriculture, Water Resources, Maritime Security and Land Asset and Resource Planning.

We are thrilled to have Dr. Johnson as our first speaker to help us kick off our 2016 SHPCP Cybersecurity Center of Performance (CoP) monthly lunch-and-learn series to be held at Carlyle-Crescent Center located at 1940 Duke Street, in Alexandria, VA.
