The Society of HPC Professionals (SHPCP) -- invites you to attend:
A Lunch & Learn Round Table Discussion Meeting
Using Storage Class Memory (NVMe, NV-DIMM) as system memory: the underlying technology, and potential benefits for HPC
In this session we will briefly discuss the state-of-the-art in current (NAND) and upcoming Flash technologies (3Dxpoint, 3D-NAND, ReRAM), and the principles for Storage Class Memory (SCM) classification. We will discuss the benefits and limitations of SCM, and introduce a Software-Defined Memory (SDM) approach for taking advantage of SCM as part of a system’s main memory (SDM-S); the session will include a discussion of the advantages and drawbacks of SDM-S with regards to different workload characteristics, and present performance data from different applications.
The session is expected to include a long Q&A, and audience feedback as to the fit (and misfit) of SDM-S in different HPC scenarios, including Oil & Gas, Life Sciences, and Engineering.
