If you are interested in a Data Science in Materials workshop, read on. For more information, email Prof. Jakoah Brgoch (jbrgoch@central.uh.edu)

From Jakoah:  I wanted to draw your attention to an upcoming workshop that focuses on using machine learning and data science to advance materials science and engineering. I am co-organizing this event to be held on the main campus of the University of Houston on April 5th at 6th in the alumni center. The goal of the workshop is the introduce the power of data science targeted at all levels of secondary education (community college through graduate students), as well as post doctoral research and even faculty members.

The 1.5-day workshop will have a hands-on component during the morning of April 5th, and then the afternoon of the first day there will be invited research talks. Saturday morning, April 6th,  the research talks will continue. We have tried to make registration for the event as inexpensive as possible ($50 for students, $100 for faculty), which also covers breakfast both mornings, lunch on Friday, and a reception happy hour on Friday evening. There is a website for the event: https://www.2019datamatsciworkshop.com/ that you can get more information as well as register for the event. I have also attached a flyer that you can feel free to share.

TcSUH PIs are asked to distribute this information to their students, who may really benefit from participating in this event. Registration is still open, but it is filling up fast.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to direct them my way.

Thanks!   Jakoah (jbrgoch@central.uh.edu)
