Cloud computing is becoming an increasingly popular paradigm among enterprises large and small. While increase in efficiency and effectiveness of IT services is the main factor  for the popularity of cloud services, concerns of risk in information security, privacy, compliance and regulation are still inhibiting wider adoption of public cloud services. The main problem underlying the risk factors is lack of consensus among cloud providers and industry-wide standards for cloud technology, cloud management, and law. The NSF Cloud and Autonomic Computing Center at Texas Tech University (CAC@TTU) [1] can help accelerate adoption of cloud services, by finding ways to ameliorate these risk factors. In addition, the CAC@TTU offers expertise in machine learning, data mining, business intelligence, Big Data, and general cloud application development.. In this presentation, we discuss capabilities, benefits and opportunities through the CAC@TTU and explore innovative industry-research partnerships in pre-competitive research areas that support your business goals and new capabilities.



Presenters Bio:

Dr. Ravi Vadapalli is a Research Scientist in High Performance Computing and Adjunct Professor of Petroleum Engineering at Texas Tech University. He has extensive experience in advanced distributed computing, research innovations in both disciplinary and interdisciplinary areas through data intensive computing. Dr. Vadapalli is one of the principal members of the developers’ team for the Texas Internet Grid for Research and Education (TIGRE), and led the demonstration of grid and cloud computing methods for the Petroleum Engineering Grid (PEGrid). His current research interests are in reservoir modeling, cancer radiotherapy simulations, and high performance computing workforce development. Dr. Vadapalli is a frequent speaker on these topics to a variety of professional industry-based and academic organizations.
